Saints Take on Defending State Champs

Game 9: (7-2) 29 September at BV Southwest (0-1) We knew how important this match was going to be for postseason seeding, and we did not get it done, falling 1-0. We gave up a goal in the first five minutes of the match, as the Timberwolves broke us down on our right side and finished a nice ball.  I don't think they had a legitimate chance to score after that, but without our corners and throw-ins, we did not create much either. Their keeper was excellent at challenging every ball we put into the box. His punches started counter-attacks some of the time. Also Southwest plays hard; they go hard to the ball, and they shut down space as well as any other team we have played against this year.  Most of the Southwest attack was broken up by that triangle of Farrar, Muckerman, and Nick Garcia. BWhite named Muckerman and Garcia as the Men of the Match. And both were good. Jacob, however, was at a special level last night; he was the best player on the pitch. Max shut down the left side a

Our First Trip to Park Hill South

Game 8 (7-1-0) 24 September at Park Hill South (3-0) We had a chance to play in the most beautiful soccer park in the area tonight. And with the game starting about sunset, we could not have asked for much more. Wow. The match marked midseason as we were playing our eighth match of the year. Last year we finished 6-2-0 at midseason. We did go 8-0-0 in the second half. So, we did improve upon last year in our first eight. But that will be quite a challenge to match our second half of last year, but we will have a shot at it. Park Hill South is a young, talented team. We jumped on them early with a throw-in goal, and a t-ball goal. And then we added another corner-like set piece later in the first half. Carter Diggs had a dynamite save that kept it 3-0 at the half. And second half the match was pretty even with the match ending 3-0.  Tonight BWhite named Mark Mason and Ethan Young the Men of the Match, and if you were at the game you know why. Ethan, even a little banged up (he did not p

Game 7: (6-1-0) vs. Bishop Miege at Bishop Miege (2-0) The Stags are so good right up the middle of the field. When you can put a quality player, up top, at center midfield, and in the center of the back, you are going to have a pretty darn good team.  And Miege can do that. They did an excellent job of limiting our opportunities; we had 4 shots on frame all night, and two of those were goals. We did miss a couple of easy ones, but we had been averaging 3 times that many shots on goal. So the Stags did a nice job of cramping our attack. I don't believe they got a shot on goal, but they did get into a scoring position 2-3 times during the match. Nick Garcia and Mitchel Farrar shut down a lot of things from the backline. We lost Jacob Muckerman for most of the match, so Nick's role was extremely important tonight. BWhite named him the Man of the Match. Check out the interview!   We also got big minutes from Mark Mason and Gabe Garcia as we pushed Zayveon forward to try to create
