The Titans Come for a Visit

Game 3 (3-0-0)
9 September vs. Lee's Summit West at Saint Thomas Aquinas (4-0)

The Titans were the best squad we have faced this year, but our guys really continued to do what we have been doing all year, close space quickly, execute set-pieces and just offer up a great work rate overall.

To be up 4-0 at the half on a side of that quality says a lot about our own play. We put in some extra time yesterday at practice on a new set play, ran it in one of our early deadball situations of the match—and scored on it. It has quite a few moving parts, so it took 5-6 guys moving in sync to make it work. Hats off to the boys.

The Titans had knocked off Lee's Summit in their last match, 3-1, and Lee's Summit was the number one ranked team on the Missouri side of the state line—so that just offers up a little evidence of how good the Titans are. They will win a lot of matches this season. A Final 4 team in large class last year, LSW should be one of the favorites to make it back there this season.

We are going back-to-back again this week, so we will have a quick turn around to play Mill Valley tomorrow on their senior night. It's pretty early in the season for senior night, but we all know how tenuous this season is with COVID 19 as the news story. We love the way our boys have embraced the moment--it's strictly business for them.

B named Luke Konnesky and Ethan Young the Men of the Match tonight. And he could have picked out 4-5 others as we really played well as a team. Ethan did rack up a nice goal and a nice assist—so part of half the goals, but what stood out to all of us was the team's high work rate tonight all over the field, and these two guys worked about as hard as two players could.
