810 Showcase

Game 12: (8-2-2)
10 October at Saint Thomas Aquinas  vs. Lee’s Summit (1-0)—Homecoming

I knew it was going to be a good day when Father Weger showed up on our bench.

We knew we had to come up with a clean sheet really to upset the number one team on their side of the state line. State-runner up from last year and a winner of twelve in a row, including a 4-0 win over BV Northwest, the Tigers were good all over the field.

We got an exceptional work-rate out of our midfielders on a day that could have fit nicely into the month of August. Consuegra, Vance, Mason, and Pope all gave us key relief minutes in the middle as well. Nick Garcia finished the final 12 minutes of the game at the 6.

We seemed to have taken an early 1-0 lead as we cashed a corner. But it was waved off for a handball. I was a long way away, but I do want to see the video later tonight. Check it out!

Midway into the second half, Max Bryson once again put a ball into the mix with Barrett Kitts going Houdini to put it in for the win.

So many played well in this one but we got 80 fabulous minutes out of Mitchell at the 6 and the 3. Michell Farrar is the B. White Man of the Match, along with Barrett Kitts who somehow played perhaps 70 minutes after barely being able to walk yesterday—with a huge shoutout to our midfield and Carter Diggs. (B interview coming Monday). Here

You had to be a soccer enthusiast to appreciate this one as we put 2 shots on goal all day, and they, 3. Hats off to both squads for a heck of a battle.
