First Ever Match with St. Michael’s

Game 15: (9-3-3)

20 October at Lee’s Summit vs St. Michael’s (3-0)

First of all, I was impressed by Saint Michael's. They played good soccer, and they played hard! That program is on the rise.

So, overall we had to be happy with the way we played defensively once again. We just don’t give up many shots, many goals. And then tonight we saw a little glimpse of offense that we have been looking for. And the longer we played the better it got.

DJ White scored a nice goal but, moreover, he created so many opportunities for us to score while over there playing left wing.

Quez hit a perfect T-ball that Eames just missed scoring on. AC also had a couple of nice shots and nice passes, one where the keeper, who was quite good, just made a magnificent save. So we are beginning to see at the rebirth of an attack.

Probably that last shift that Ethan played up top was his best in quite some time. First, he looks healthy, and second, he made some fine passes.

And we can’t forget Max Bryson. He once again puts one of those nice crosses in that spot where only we can be successful. Barrett Kitts brought down the ball so nicely before he gets taken out. We get the PK. We go up 1-0, and then at the end of the game, Max plays a little bit at the withdrawn striker spot and just hits a rope to make the game 3-0.

BWhite pointed out Drew Welch (who wasn’t supposed to play tonight as we were hoping to give another day to heal) as Man of the Match. But the Guardians had us on our heels early. We put Drew in and everything changed for us.

B also rewarded Konnesky’s work rate in the center of the field. It’s one of the big reasons, Diggs posted a shutout. Interview

We now only have one game left—Senior Night— and that will be Thursday versus Blue Valley North. We need to win that game and hope the Blue Valley West defeats Blue Valley Southwest.  That would make the regular season end perfectly.
