Tiger Week

Game  11 (7-2-2)
8 October at BV West vs Blue Valley (1-1, 2OT's)

We are going to feel this one when we wake up tomorrow morning. What a physical match that featured plenty of direct kicks, long throw-ins, and way too many Blue Valley corner kicks.

We really had some tremendous efforts to get to the ball first and to get the ball back upfield. We probably could have made things a little easier on ourselves if we would have cleared wider, more often.

In fact, we could have made things a lot easier on ourselves by attacking wide more. Blue Valley had two big, strong centerbacks who made a middle attack a losing proposition.

In some ways, this was a pretty gritty tie, as once again, we miss the opportunity to take the 1-0 lead, and instead, they built a nice goal that ended with a chip to the back post, followed by a nice head-in. So, they grab the 1-0 lead. So we are fighting the odds once again.

Moreover, that goal gave them an instant spark, and, honestly, we dropped a bit. We were on our heals the rest of the half.

But we really came out with some great second- half energy. I really appreciate some of our guys coming off injuries playing so many minutes, so hard. Mitchell and Luke both played virtually 100 minutes.

But Zayveon and Jacob broke up so much of the Tiger attack that B named them part of a Men of the Match 3-pack. He added Welch who not only nailed the PK to get us tied but also had one of his most physical matches. We left a couple of game-winning ducks on the pond, but they did spend 30 seconds and 4 shots inside the 18 in overtime.  Seeger did have a nice second half with the two overtimes.

But, there is no doubt that we were fortunate to make it out of AnDAC with a tie.
